Please describe the interview process and assessments.
Must submit a cover letter. P&C won't look at your resume, no matter how good if you do not submit a cover letter. First phone call was a cultural fit check with P&C then moved onto a proper P&C interview where asked about previous experience and conflict resolution. A lot of soft skill questions. Then moved onto a case study were you are given a case study a few days before your interview and you have to present a presentation to a panel of interviewers. They will go through your work history and ask questions they feel are relevant. Nerve racking but also they are very friendly and doing their due dilligence. Final interview is with the regions Managing Director and she asks similar questions. She focuses on your past experience as well as who you are as a person, so if you pass the vibe check, and you are yourself with a willingness to engage. A relatively simple interview.

I went through three interviews for the graduate program: (1) getting to know you / culture fit, (2) presentation of a case study that I had 48hrs to prepare to a panel of 4 consultants, and (3) final interview with the Managing Director of the Brisbane office. All of these interviews were conducted approx. 1 week apart and I felt that Escient communicated very well throughout the process.

An initial screening call with HR to assess the alignment of values with the organisation and cultural fit, then a case study in the office with a few consultants which you had two days to prepare for, and then a final interview with the Managing Director of that branch

Application, phone screen, culture fit interview, presentation and interview, informal managing director interview. I found the process far superior to other companies hiring graduates. I had a chance to interview with a person before completing an assessment.

As I applied for a graduate position at Escient, the interview process was well rounded and refreshing. The process consisted of 1 phone interview, 1 teams interview, a case study panel with company directors and a final face to face interview with the regions managing director. The entire process was both refreshing, challenging and insightful. This chosen structure of the interview process enabled me to express my qualities and experiences both at work and in overall life.

The interview process was really strong and something that drew me towards Escient. 1. Candidates are asked to submit an initial application about how they relate to Escient's values 2. P+C Meeting Screening- Candidates meet with People and Culture and discuss their experience etc 3. In-Person Interview + Case Study Presentation- If successful candidates are asked to prepare a case study and present to a panel along with questions about the presentation and personally. 4. Final Interview with the region's Managing Director

Probably the only company I interviewed with that felt human. No questionnaires or psychometric tests, just talking to real people about myself.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
The questions were focused on how I fit in with Escient's values, how I think my skills would transfer to the consulting field, and questions about the considerations I made during the process of coming up with my case study response. It was clear from the case study that they were more focused on how/why I answered the question rather than the answer's "correctness" itself.

Who are you? What's your educational background? How do you demonstrate conflict resolution? What do you do outside of work (hobbies)?

I can’t say I really remember! But the first call was very informal and based on values and experience, then the second round was questions based on the case study and then some questions about you and your experience, then the third one was more of a deep dive on the industry, your experience and interests as well as an opportunity for you to ask your questions

Standard culture fit questions. The seond interview centered more on how I approached the case study, how I may interact in certain scenarios with a client and my interests in consulting.

The interview process consisted of diverse questions spanning from scenarios which may have occurred in past employment, to questions about things I enjoy doing outside of work. The questions allowed for open discussion and even made me equally learn about the employees at Escient.

I was asked a range of questions. Firstly, I was asked about the various parts of my presentation potentially any gaps that they identified in my analysis. I was also asked about my experiences in work, university, sport, volunteering etc to that point. This gave them a sense all round of how I approach and present a problem, respond when placed under pressure and my general personality/life outside of work.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
I would recommend reading through the Escient website to get a sense of what Escient values and the kind of work we do. Communicate how your own experience/perspective will add value to Escient's work (e.g. by reading through case studies on the website, you will understand the different client challenges we often see). Also remember to be authentic!

Know the company and speak to their values. Escient has 4 values that drive everything and if you know this and can find an anecdote or a story that matches each value then they will really appreciate that and see that it is important to you. Also be honest to yourself and who you are because I think they can tell.

Don’t be afraid to be a bit creative and show your uniqueness, I think the team really respond to that
Graduate, Sydney - 27 Feb 2024
Demonstrate your alignment with company values and be authentic. Learn professional project management and consulting vernacular. Study the industry and understand your interests.
Graduate, Brisbane - 23 Feb 2024
My words of advice for anyone interested in being a part of Escient is to always remember to express yourself and hold your life experiences just as highly as your tertiary qualification, that is how you’ll stand out.
Consultant, Adelaide - 23 Jan 2024
My advice would be to be your authentic self and be honest about your experiences to date. Naturally you want to present all the facets of your life that have led you to that point and may give you the relevant experience to work. Do some research on the company beforehand and ensure you understand the values and how you align with them in some way

Be yourself, that's what Escient wants to see. Also know Escient's values.
