We welcome applications from those who identify as women, non-binary or other gender minorities.
Our why
We have a commitment for our teams and leaders to authentically reflect the communities we serve so that we can make the best decisions for our customers. We know that women are underrepresented in senior retail leadership and entrepreneurship and face many barriers. Supermarket Ownership is a relatively unknown career path compared to “traditional” careers and we want to bust myths and inspire the next generation of female leaders to own their future and be able to make a positive impact on New Zealand communities.
Why get into Supermarket Ownership?
Put simply, our Owner Operators are the heartbeat of the Foodstuffs North Island Co-op. Becoming an Owner Operator in our Co-op is a rewarding career. You'll have the opportunity to lead a store to success while knowing you have the support and scale of the Co-op behind you every step of the way. This is a career for those who are up for a challenge, have a passion for people, and want to be a positive force for New Zealand communities.

The people in my team and the supportive work environment.
The inclusive atmosphere in my team where everyone is supportive and willing to help each other.
The workplace and life balance is nice with Foodies being accommodating to family.
My team allows us to have flexible working hours, which gives a great work-life balance.
Beautiful office. Hot desk model. Lots of free parking. Has showers, wellness room, subsidized breakfast/lunches.
Commuting to the office is a struggle.
Lack of giving people a chance to role progress within the company.
The pay is not as good as I hoped. For being here 3 years I feel like I have added quite a bit of value to my team but it is not reflected in my pay.
While there is some variety in my work, often it can be monotonous.
Complexities around being an owner-operator model in a highly regulated environment
