I work in area where I can review income tax returns and GST returns. my task is ensuring the TP is paying the right amount or being refunded the right amount of tax. My work involves getting to learn much knowledge which i consider it a great way of professional development. lots of aspect i can learn about businesses, law, and other concepts. I have been in IRD for 4 months and i have acquired significant knowledge that I would not be able to learn in other workplaces. That is why Loved the nature of role.

As a policy advisor I am involved in work that seeks to advise the Government on matters relating to tax and social policy, whilst also facilitating the legislation and implementation of policies.

My responsibilities depend on the tasks I have been assigned so these change depending on the team focuses. Generally there are no specific daily tasks rather cases that need to be progressed at different stages.

I work as a policy advisor. This mainly involves: 1. Admin work: setting up meetings, taking notes and chairing discussions, responding to OIAs. 2. Policy formulation work: research, being involved in team discussions, external meetings. 3. Policy work: drafting documents for consultation or for the Minister. 4. Building knowledge: attending internal and external courses.
