About Corporate and Institutional Banking

Our expertise is partnering with our Corporate, Government and Institutional customers to provide world class global solutions. Our business brings together teams of specialists to provide a full range of debt structuring, funding solutions, research, trading and custodial services.
Within Corporate & Institutional Banking, we have our Markets team which use sales, trading and research expertise. The business covers every segment of the corporate and investor markets, from global supranational through to high net-worth customers looking to build their investment portfolio.

In Corporate and Institutional Banking, you will:

  • Assist in the relationship management of our large Corporate and Institutional customers.
  • Analyse and interpret complex financial information to provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Assist in structuring and execution of transactions, including preparing credit submissions and employing financial modelling where required.
  • Actively participate in deal teams and support the deal process.
  • Develop an ongoing awareness and understanding of market risk, industry knowledge and risk appetite.
  • Develop and contribute to programming solutions for problems the business faces, including involvement with trading tools and e-trading processes.
  • Provide technical, analytical, administrative and direct client support.
  • Provide innovative funding solutions and access points to global capital markets.
  • Provide custody, master custody, investment administration and other related services to both local and international clients, including corporate and industry superannuation funds, investment managers and institutional banks.
  • Analyse data to derive innovative insights and perform market analysis.
  • Get involved with industry research, insights presentations, strategic initiatives, transformation programs and regulatory responses.
  • Support Banking Specialists in delivering transactional support and solutions.
  • Contribute to Corporate & Institutional Banking goals.

Pros

  • Amazing Culture and People. Employees are valued and recognised for the hard work that they put in. The company has a very supportive environment and has many different learning and development opportunities available."

  • Flexible working (WFH), emphasis on work-life balance. Big organisation so lots of areas to get involved in and explore.

  • Great learning opportunities - 3-4 rotations depending on your dream to get exposure to different parts of the bank. Good work-life balance.

  • Employees are recognised for the hard work and initiative that they take which gives them the opportunity to further our career development.

  • The graduate culture is amazing and everyone is very social and happy to catch up.

Cons

    • Sometimes we have to navigate lots of old tech and systems.

    • Because it’s such a large organization, it can be tricky to know the ins and outs of what each function does, but that comes with time, experience and exposure.

    • Sometimes have to work long hours.

    • There were lots of stages of the interview process

    • We don’t get any bonuses. Apparently they used to but they stopped a few years back.
