Don’t catastrophise when you face adversity. This goes for both academic and non-academic adversities. If you don’t get good grades or aren’t successful in a job application, don’t see it as a failure. Instead, see it as a learning experience—reflect on what you did right and what you could have done better, and take some lessons from it.

As with anything, a strong passion for what you are doing is essential – I have a passion for construction and can see myself enjoying working in this industry for the next 20+ years.

No two businesses are the same and furthermore, no two days are the same. I am constantly learning about new businesses and industries and learning both technical and professional skills along the way.

Each piece of work you undertake contributes to ASIO’s mission and has the power to make a real difference in protecting Australians.

There is a relatively steep learning curve for beginners, but if you put the effort in, it becomes very rewarding to learn the functions and process within the insurance industry.
