Sivney Ryan Khe

Master of Information Technology at University of San Jose-Recoletos

I believe one of the most effective ways of learning industry skills is receiving actual courses from companies. It gives students like me a peek into the world we strive to get into and gives us ideas on which skills we should work on to land a career in the industry.

What's your job about?

When we were given our capstone projects. Frankly, most of the students did not expect to do a project of this scale. However, it gave us a chance to use what we’ve learned practically. The capstone projects were indeed challenging but also an overall worthwhile learning experience.

What's your background?

Sivney Ryan Khe is a fourth-year information technology student at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJR). He shares how his learning experience inspired him to broaden his horizons and enabled him to gain important skills that will help him get a career in the IT industry.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

It was very interesting, especially at the beginning when the students were introduced to EY GDS and the ServiceNow platform. Before I took this course, I was unaware of ServiceNow and the possible career paths the related skills would generate. To be honest, at times I found it difficult to focus as the course was virtual, but the instructors were always patient and willing to answer any questions posed about the topic.

Advice for yourself when you were a student...

We should broaden our horizons toward potential career paths. As I’ve mentioned before, the platform that was taught to us was unheard of by most of the students. However, during my capstone project defence, we found out about the possible career paths as a ServiceNow developer and the current demands of the industry. It gave me the realization that there was much more we could do in the IT industry and that students like me who are soon to graduate should broaden their horizons and find a career that best suits them and their potential.
