About EYโs Global Delivery Services (GDS)
GDS is EY's shared services organization. It consists of multiple service delivery centers from which Client Service and Enablement Services teams operate to deliver a range of support and services to
EY. To work with Global Delivery Services is to tap into one of EY's greatest global assets - 40,000 smart, dedicated and incredibly responsive people, based in six countries.
The Opportunity
Risk Management Services (RMS) team at EY plays an important role in managing the internal risks of the firm associated with accepting a new client or an engagement or risks associated with any of our ongoing audit / non-audit engagement. Formed in 2007, the RMS team is growing rapidly as a Center of Excellence for all standardized quality / compliance-related activities that can be efficiently undertaken from a central location.
The RMS team has enjoyed good visibility within the global EY RMS community and has been involved in development of some key RMS processes. The team has current staff strength of 400+ people and is poised for growing rapidly in next couple of years.
Independence Assurance Support Services
The Independence Assurance Support Services team within RMS works with Audit engagement teams / Country Independence teams across EY for completing various work programs that aim to assess our Independence on an ongoing basis or before accepting a new Public Interest Entity (PIE) audit client.

Manageable
I engage in work-based learning sessions whenever I am not assigned to a project. I have already gained valuable experience from my first engagement, where I was responsible for updating walkthroughs and conducting testing. So far, I have maintained a good work-life balance.

One of the things I appreciate the most is the company culture regarding asking questions. Since I am an engineering graduate with no prior experience or exposure to business tax, I went into my job blind and confused about many things. Both the Manila and SG teams have been very helpful in helping me settle into my role and clearing up any confusions with the work given to me. There's no such thing as "stupid questions"; if you really don't know something, you are encouraged to ask and not default to ๏ฌguring it out on your own
The hierarchy is very complex, and you tend to get passed around when you ask questions
The onboarding process was quite overwhelming

The base pay is somewhat competitive within the industry. The presence of a variable bonus makes the compensation package very appealing. These bonuses are tied to performance, company pro๏ฌtability, and individual achievements, providing a strong incentive for employees to excel in their roles
Not the worst, but one minor issue I have (probably just because I'm new to the set-up) is that I'm working closely with a team that I don't even see or talk to in person. Being the ๏ฌrst in the BTA-QS team to support SG, I only have my onshore counterparts and teammates to consult with for work questions and other related things. It feels weird to me for the time being, but I'll get used to it with time
