Hannah Eve Couch

Every day is different! The task might be to write up a candidate profile, complete a reference check, or update the details of candidates in our main database, Bullhorn.

6.00 AM

It’s wake up time! I usually get out of bed 15 minutes after waking up. My regular routine involves me freshening up and getting dressed for the day while watching whatever show I’m binge watching at the time. I always have an outfit planned ready to go, otherwise I take too long to get ready!

7.00 AM

Time for breakfast! While eating, I take some time to scroll through social media or play a game on my phone.

8.00 AM

I live 25 minutes away from the office and commute by driving through the city. Depending on how bad the traffic is, I like to leave before or around 8 am. Even if there is traffic, I’m not bothered as it gives me more time to listen to my favourite music and energises me for the day!

8.30 AM

Before entering the office, I might grab a hot chocolate from the coffee cart downstairs. When I walk in, I’m always greeted by the team and often by dogs as well! They always make for a nice surprise.

8.45 AM

Once I’ve settled in at my desk, the first thing I usually do is check my emails and Microsoft teams for any updates. The emails I receive will often outline a task that needs to be completed. After that I make a to-do list to manage the tasks I need to do for the day.

9.00 AM

Every day is different! The task might be to write up a candidate profile, complete a reference check, or update the details of candidates in our main database, Bullhorn.

12.00 PM

It’s lunchtime! I usually always pack a lunch and it is usually leftovers from dinner the night before. If I don't have anything from home, I'll go out with other staff members to the local Coles or just for some easy takeaway. When we are back at the office eating, I'll take this time to catch up with colleagues, although I also like to take some time to sit by myself and relax before going back to my desk.

1.00 PM

After lunch, I'll often be tasked with searching for new candidates. When doing this, I'll be looking for people who meet the qualifications of a specific role we'll be hiring for. The first step is to filter candidates already in our database and if any seem like a suitable fit, I'll put them into a tearsheet. The tearsheet allows us to save candidates in a designated space that we can find easily and refer to if there are any future roles that are looking for candidates with the same criteria.

2.00 PM

If there aren't many candidates already in our database, I'll often turn to SEEK. When using SEEK, I use the filters to help narrow down the candidates and then search by "last updated". If someone has updated their SEEK profile recently, it could mean they are more likely to be open to new job opportunities. If anyone is suitable for the role, I will use their resume to put them into our database and then into the tearsheet.

3.00 PM

Once I have finished searching for candidates, I begin conducting some pre-screening. To do this, I call the candidates I have just found online and ask if they’re open to any new job opportunities. During these calls, I’ll ask questions about what they’re looking for, work background, location preferences, salary expectations, and more! If they seem suitable, I'll pass them on to my supervisor for a more in depth conversation.

4.00 PM

Almost home time! I'll finish up any tasks I've been given and if there is extra time, I'll make sure to check with the team to see if there is anything I can help with. When I'm in on a Friday afternoon, the team often winds down a little earlier as it is the end of the week. I have been lucky enough to participate in activities such as paint and sip, monthly accomplishment prizes, and general end-of-week drinks where I can relax and get to know everyone on a more personal level.

5.00 PM

It’s home time! I exit the office, say goodbye to the team and head back to my car to commute back home.

6.00 PM

I’m home at last! When I get home from work, I'll spend time with my family and then have dinner around 6.30 pm. Depending on the day, we might all watch a movie or TV show together before getting ready for bed. After family time, I'll have a shower, get ready for bed, and start to wind down.

9.00 PM

To wind down from the day, I'll spend more time with my puppy, read a book, or simply spend some time on my phone.

10.00 PM

Finally, it’s time for bed.
