Gender Equality at Sparke Helmore Lawyers
Sparke Helmore's Workplace Gender Equality Policy seeks to advance and promote gender equality in all the firm's activities, at all stages of the employment cycle and to embed it in our culture. The firm conducts annual pay equity audits and reports the results, which include outcomes by gender, to the DEI Advisory Committee, ExCo and the Board.
We actively support and mentor women for senior roles within our firm, to achieve balanced firm leadership. Currently 38% of our Board, 27% of our Executive Committee, 42% of our partners and approximately 70% of our overall workforce identify as female. Gender equality is also reflected in our FAST (business operations) leadership team (of which women account for 66% and which includes our Chief Operating Officer, Director of People & Culture, Head of Marketing & Communications, IT Director and Director of Knowledge, and Head of Talent Acquisition).
We have been formally recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) since 2018 and are also signatories to the Law Society of Australia’s Gender Equitable Briefing Policy.
