Gardenia’s Internship Program Experience

By: Hayes M. Vivar.

Being a 4th year student was not a walk in the park. Looking for a host training establishment that would give you the knowledge you needed to be prepared for the workplace was not easy either—seniors' years ahead of me introduced me to Gardenia's internship program and by word of mouth. I was always eyeing Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Inc. as my training establishment because of all the good things I heard from the company's post-interns and the employees. I always say that I manifested as a student trainee at Gardenia. People would describe me as a person who likes to prepare and have a fallback just in case. But I had no backup plans, so I did not look for other companies. I was dead set on being a student trainee in Gardenia. So, when I did, the experience fell nothing short of my expectations. It exceeded every expectation I set for my host training establishments.

Although I learned everything from the book at my university, real-life human resources, and recruitment demands are entirely different. However, I have firsthand experience with end-to-end recruitment. Even though I am a student trainee, I was lucky to experience what goes into the recruitment process. When you are a newbie, trust goes a long way. The TA team allowed me to be confident enough to do things independently with their mentorship because they also knew I learned from the best.  I have learned that recruitment is a tedious process, but it will be rewarding. I was also blessed by people who cared about learning so much that they took the time to answer all my questions and pass their knowledge on to me. I will forever be grateful to Gardenia's TA team for giving me something I can keep for the rest of my life. My gratitude also goes to everyone who makes up Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Inc. for providing good bread to Filipino families and supporting students like me so they can have the best training for the workplace and be equipped with knowledge.

My internship experience at Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Inc. was among the best. I will always look back at it fondly. I know if I happen to see the renowned white loaves of bread on my grocery shelves, it will take me back to a time in my life when I was learning the most about my future profession and was learning with people who were passionate about their work that they pass on their compassion to others as well.
